Just curious as I am trying to figure out why it sounded like it was running without the muffler when it overheated.

The temperature gage was all the way over .
WHAT ABOUT CATALYTIC CONVERTER INSTEAD???
I AM MORE CONCERNED NOW

I would be more concerned as to what is making your car overheat rather than the loud noise. Do you have any holes in your exhaust piping or canister? Do you have any check engine lights on? Usually a clogged or bad converter will show up on an obd2
